From the long, southeast-facing slope between Gumpoldskirchen and Guntramsdorf comes Reinisch's 2020 Gumpoldskirchen Pinot Noir, a long-established red that was known as "Grillenhügel" before. Aged in low-toasted oak barrels of different seizes for 16 months, the 2020 offers a clear, pure, fresh and aromatic, rather coolish bouquet of ripe and concentrated red fruits intermingled with tart spicy aromas. Silky and very elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, refined and sustainable Pinot with finely grained tannins and a serious mineral substance and structure. The finish is pure, fresh and stimulatingly grippy. This is an excellent Pinot from Gumpoldskirchen. 13% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in January 2023. ... More details

Luscious cherry, mulberry and toasty spice flavors highlight this juicy red that carries classic appeal. The juicy finish makes you want another sip. Good balance.

Plenty of juicy apricot and ripe melon fruit here, but there’s also uplifting freshness that doesn’t depend on pronounced acidity. Generous body, but no hint of heaviness in this very appealing, uncomplicated dry white. A blend of the indigenous rotgipfler and zierfandler grapes. From organically grown grapes. Drink now. Screw cap.

Varietal: Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir grapes have been cultivated in and around the Burgundy region of France for centuries, where they have long been favored by vintners for their wide range of flavors, their thin skins and for producing wines which have light, smooth tannins, and a beautiful garnet red color Whilst they remain one of the flagship varietals of this special region, their wide popularity and recent status as a fashionable 'romantic' varietal has led to them being planted in almost every wine producing country in the world. However, the Pinot Noir demands a huge amount of care and attention from the wineries that wish to grow it, as this varietal is particularly susceptible to various forms of mildew and rot. Despite this, the grape is otherwise a favorite with wineries for the fact that it requires little extra effort once it begins fermentation. Pinot Noir is also widely known for producing some of the world's most famous sparkling wines, being one of two key grapes for the production of Champagne, and several other sparkling varieties.

Country: Austria

All over the flat parts of the country in eastern Austria, Grüner Veltliner grapevines can be found growing to full ripeness under the blazing summer sunshine the country enjoys. For over four thousand years, Austria has been an important location for wine production, with a strong sense of tradition driving the modern wine industry to this day. Now, the country has over fifty thousand hectares under vine, and wineries are beginning to experiment more and more with imported grape varietals such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, alongside the traditional vines associated with the country. Austria is most commonly known for their excellent dry white wines, which are extremely elegant and generally capable of expressing their fine terroir, making it a fascinating country to explore from a wine drinker's perspective.
