Inverroche, the confluence of water and rock. This premium gin is a wonderful example of what some South African distillers are capable of creating with the inspiration of a centuries old drink using the botanicals from their homeland. Not to mention how excellent they are enjoyed “neat” or with a mellow tonic, leaving hints of delicate florals, exotic botanicals and a slight flavor of rooibos. Delicate aromas reminiscent of elderflower and chamomile, lead to summer blooms, a touch of spice, subtle juniper, waxy lemon rind and alluring liquorice on the palate.

Country: South Africa

Situated on the very tip of the African continent, South Africa has proved itself over three centuries to be an ideal location for producing a wide range of wines. Benefiting from something not dissimilar to a Mediterranean climate, with long, hot summers complemented by both Atlantic and Indian Ocean winds, the grapes which grow on the valleys, mountainsides and plains of this fascinating country can ripen to their fullest capacity, producing wines packed full of fruity flavors and an array of interesting and enticing aromas. As a former colony, South Africa has long since been home to a range of different nationalities, who each brought something of their wine culture with them. As such, many European grape varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Riesling and others have been given time to flourish in South Africa, allowing the country to develop a diverse group of wine types which are proving increasingly popular around the world.

Inverroche Verdant is in a class of its own. It's distilled using plants that grow in a small part of coastal South Africa, and nowhere else in the world: the Cape Fynbos flora.

Apart from "delicious", it's hard to find words for, because the Cape Fynbos flavors aren't like other things. It's almost like seeing a new color. Fans of exotic herbal teas may have tasted rooibus, which is another Fynbos plant, but Verdant is a more complex blend.

Inverroche Verdant isn't super junipery. It's 'botanical' but has a lovely light taste that isn't at all medicinal (I'm looking at you, Hendricks and Nolet's).

It's great all alone over ice, or with a tiny bit of good-quality tonic such as Q or Fever Tree. You want the original flavor or 'naturally light' tonics with no extraneous flavors--Inverroche Verdant is beautifully rounded as it is.
