Attractive brambly red fruit, as well as gently sappy notes and fresh bracken. This smells quite pure and fresh. The palate has athletic tannin structure that swirls around a central core of ripe red-fruit flavors. Well structured and drinkable. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

Mint sauce and tobacco and white pepper underlay plump plum and cherry fruit on this Cab Franc, which vibes more Bordeaux than Loire. There's a lick of polished vanillin oak present, too. Tannins are distinctively textured, raspy and spicy, weaving through the plush red fruit. Well structured, this could be drunk now with a roast leg of lamb or cellared through to 2030.

A floral note of violets mingles with sage and bay leaf details in this red, with a core of blackberry and currant flavors that are round, juicy and supple. Earl grey tea and black pepper accents linger on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2040. 121 cases made, 100 cases imported.

This Cabernet Franc expresses true varietal characteristics such as black tea and rich raspberry with a touch of bay leaf. The mid-palate is dense yet delicate and the finish features fine velvety tannins. A showstopper now, one can only imagine the cellaring potential.

In its native France, the Cabernet Franc varietal grape is used in the production of a wide range of wines, from the bright and pale red colored single variety bottles, to the magnificent oak aged and world-beating wines of the Bordeaux region. The Mediterranean style climate allows the grapes to ripen slowly and fully, and express the many features of the excellent terroir which typifies the area. The variation in geological features of the peninsula is one of the key reasons why the wines from Fleurieu vary so greatly, and vintners in the region delight in experimenting with the micro-climates which make up the island's unique features. Today, the region mainly produces Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon wines of great character, although there are many varietals currently being grown there very successfully.
