The NV Celebre is a sparkling Riesling. Although it is a non-vintage wine, the disgorgement date of January 2019 is noted on the back. It was on the lees for about two years. This, unlike its sparking siblings, is a sweeter style—30 grams of sugar, 9.5 of total acidity and 11.9% alcohol. Showing more sugar than its siblings, this still has good acidity and a fresh feel. Nicely done in its style, this is going to be a consumer favorite for picnics and the like, but it has a little distinction too. Did I mention that it tastes great? It may age longer than anticipated, but this should really be drunk fresh, when it is at its most exuberant point.

Celebre is an award-winning sparkling Riesling, not traditional, perhaps, but a delightful indulgence that can do a lot for your outlook on life. If you're not accustomed to drinking a bubbly with a meal, Celebre may get your taste buds dancing.

Varietal: Champagne Blend

There are few wine regions of the world with as much influence or fame as that of Champagne in France. The sparkling wines from this special area have long been associated with excellence and magnificent flavors, and much of their success has been down to the careful blending of fine grape varietals in order to achieve spectacular results. Most commonly, Champagne wines use both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietal grapes in more or less equal measures, often boosted by a small quantity of Pinot Meunier for extra bite. The Chardonnay varietal grapes offer their acidity and flavor to the bottle, and help with the dryness associated with quality in this type of wine. The Pinot Noir, on the other hand, gives strength to the wine, and gives Champagne its distinctive 'length' of character.

New York state has a relatively long history of wine-making and vineyard cultivation, with vineyards in the region dating back to the Dutch settlements of the 17th century. As such, the region has slowly discovered the unique qualities of their terroir, and has developed a distinctive set of grape varietals which have gone on to represent the state and make their wines both unique and highly regarded. New York state has four key wine producing areas – Lake Erie AVA, Finger Lakes AVA, Hudson River and Long Island, each making the most of their relatively cool climate and characterful terroirs.
