This careful exercise in harmony is a grand showcase of marrying 80% Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon with Eden Valley Shiraz, bringing together different varieties from significantly different regions to achieve a seamless weave of complementary flavours and textures. It’s a bold vision smartly realised – the leafy lift, redcurrant bite and confident blackberry typical of Coonawarra Cabernet threaded with the plush red and blue fruited exuberance of Eden Shiraz. A lively fresh berry perfume leaps from the glass, but the great highlight of this blend is the comforting savoury notes that envelop the mid-palate and keep descending through its densely layered structure. Importantly, the bottled wine sits in cellar for 23 months before release, resulting in ideal balance, with fine-grained tannins underpinning the heft of rich, persistent fruits. ... More details

This 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz The Caley is a picture of purity and precision. There are layers of bright red and black currant fruits spliced with graphite, red cherry and the faintest dusting of spice and dried herbs - all beautifully settled with a strong but integrated background of coffee bean oak. A classic claret style follows: a tight fruit core wound up in dense but satiny textured tannins. The finish is killer - seamless, sleek and extremely long, showing a seductive mix of fruit and tannins with a peacock's tail to close. This is a classic in the making.

Impressive and expansive, plush and rich, oozing with huckleberry and bittersweet chocolate–covered dried blueberry flavors, with touches of espresso on an appealing fleshy frame. Shows notes of palo santo, rosemary, white pepper and bay leaf that add aromatic complexity, with an epic, generous finish. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Drink now through 2040.
Winery
Deep, dense red in colour. Distinct Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon aromas: fresh, cool and refined green olive, leafiness, iodine and intriguing, fine and complex aromatics. Richness and precision, revealing refinement of Shiraz with red currant and spice. Perfectly balanced acid and tannin line sweeping through to the long finish.

Region: Limestone Coast

The Limestone Coast is one of the most well known and highly esteemed wine regions of South Australia, situated near the border with Victoria in the south-eastern part of the country. Limestone Coast has proven over the decades to be something of an ideal region for vineyard cultivation, as it benefits enormously from beautiful climatic conditions which include plenty of year round sunshine, tempered by brisk oceanic winds. All of the vineyards in the region are situated at low altitudes, and even during the dry ripening season, the vineyards are close enough to the water table to have plenty of access to the moisture required for growing exceptional, healthy and flavorful grapes. When it comes to grape varietals, vintners have had success with a wide range of grapes. However, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz varietals produce the most famous red wines of the region, with Chardonnay and Viognier grapes proving to be exceptionally fine for the region's white wines.

Country: Australia

With over sixteen thousand hectares of Australian land now under vine, Australia has become something of a world leader in regards to wine production. One of Australia's key attributes to their success has been their willingness to leave traditional vineyard practices to one side, and develop techniques which are perfectly suited to a New World country. Modern Australian wineries take into consideration the climate and the unique soil types which cover much of their country, and have had fantastic results from cross-breeding programs and blending practices which make the most of the grape varietals which thrive most successfully there, notably the Shiraz and Chardonnay grapes. In recent years, Australia has been lauded as the 'most influential' wine producing country in the world, and the rest of the New World is looking down under for inspiration, and the ability to produce comparable fine wines on their own terrain.
