An instant success, the 2018 Champoux Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is complex, layered and expressive with notions of ripe black cherry skin, dark plum, dusty black raspberry, hints of redcurrants, crème de cassis, subtle red flowers and hints of brown baking spices. Medium-bodied, the Cabernet compresses on the palate to show its complexity with its tighter frame, succulent acids and fine-grained tannins. Showcasing focus and precision, there is no lack of complexity as the wine concludes with a delightful and lingering finish. 5,904 bottles were made after the wine rested for just under two years in all French oak, 25% first fill. Medium-bodied and balanced, with bright acidity and a clean finish, it's another beautifully balanced, elegant wine in the lineup. It should have 10-15 years of longevity.

Aged 22 months in one-fourth new French oak, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Champoux Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) has a juicy, youthful vibe that carries plenty of mulberry and bright cherry fruits as well as notes of leafy tobacco, cedar, and earth. Medium-bodied and balanced, with bright acidity and a clean finish, it's another beautifully balanced, elegant wine in the lineup. It should have 10-15 years of longevity.

There is little doubt about the fact that the most familiar red wine grape varietal in the world is the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, seen listed on bottles from more or less every single wine producing country across the globe. Part of the reason for this is the fact that Cabernet Sauvignon is a particularly hardy grape, resistant to both frost and rot, and can grow well in a number of climatic conditions so long as it receives enough sunlight and water. Of course, this is only half the story – we cannot ignore the fact that wines made from the Cabernet Sauvignon varietal are prized not only for their strong acidic fruit flavors, spicy and earthy notes and high tannin content, but also for the fact that they age beautifully in oak, resulting in wines which are on another level from those made from lesser grapes. Aged wines made using primarily Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are widely recognized to be the finest in the world. Washington state is a fascinating region when it comes to American wine production, with the majority of their produce coming out of the desert-like eastern half of the state. This expansive region has a unique climate produced by the rain shadow of the Cascade mountain range, and here we find over ninety-nine percent of the state's vineyards which hold a wide range of classic grape varietals including Merlot, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and others. Today, there are over forty thousand acres in Washington under vine, and the industry of the state is going from strength to strength due to the increasing popularity of the wines which are produced here.
